The three beloved Intermezzi, Op. 117, represent the essence of Brahms' late piano works. Clara Schumann once remarked, “In these pieces, I once again feel musical life stir in my soul.” Brahms, however, reacted brusquely, often referring to them as “lullabies” but rejecting the title outright: “It should then say, lullaby of an unhappy mother or a disconsolate bachelor.” This new edition of these moderately difficult Intermezzi (difficulty level 5/6) has been revised based on the Brahms Complete Edition, with fingerings provided by Andreas Boyde.
