Despite their structural simplicity, the Impromptus of Op. 90 are artistic masterpieces and remain among the most beloved works in Romantic piano literature.

The third Impromptu in G-flat major (Andante) is a hushed, dreamlike reverie. A serene melody floats above an undulating triplet accompaniment, with harmonies that shift subtly and tenderly. This Urtext edition presents the work in its original key. Although other editions often transpose it into G major for easier fingering, such changes alter the delicate character and coloration Schubert intended.

Performance Tips:
