Enrique Granados (1867–1916) was a Spanish composer and pianist who studied in Barcelona and Paris. His life was tragically cut short during World War I. Among his earliest and most enduring works is the collection of 8 Waltzes for Solo Piano, Valses Poéticos (Op. 43, 1887).

Although originally conceived as a suite, each waltz can also be performed individually, standing firmly on its own merits. The suite demonstrates Granados’s gift for weaving lyrical melodies with lively dance rhythms, making it a true gem of the Romantic piano repertoire and an essential work for aspiring pianists.
