Jakub Metelka (born 1986), internationally recognized for his advanced beginner piano albums (The Secret Garden, Little Virtuoso, Modern Piano Studies), presents his latest collection Puppet Theatre, written for pianists who have studied for about two years. This is Metelka’s easiest contribution to the beginner piano repertoire, serving as a predecessor volume to Little Virtuoso.
The twenty miniatures, in simple song form, feature appealing and harmonically clear melodies that reflect Metelka’s natural musicality and creativity. The pieces resonate with the emotional world of children, stimulating their imagination, while also being engaging for older beginners. Each piece’s title, inspired by fairy tales, evokes a vivid atmosphere and encourages imaginative storytelling. Students and teachers may arrange the sequence of the miniatures freely to create their own “puppet theatre”.
This edition includes online audio recordings of all the pieces, performed by the composer himself.
Performance Tips :
