Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750) 他的作品基礎在於讚美歌(Choral)及風琴音樂。作品數量極為豐富，大部份為宗教而寫，幾乎每樣作品都到達完美藝術程度。他把器樂形式的賦格(Fuga)帶到空間的頂點。 三大創作期 1708-1717 杜克大教堂風琴師，以風琴音樂為主． 1717-1723 前往科登(Cothen)擔任樂隊指揮，以樂隊作品為主，完成作品有布蘭登保協奏曲，小提琴協奏曲、序曲、組曲和奏鳴曲。鍵盤樂完成十二平均律鋼琴曲上半部、英國組曲、法國組曲、半音階幻想曲。 1723年獲得萊比錫聖湯馬士．舒大當的風琴職位，此時以聖樂為主要創作。 巴哈在世時，一直未被認為是不朽的作曲家，當時的人只知道他是位風琴師，因此作品幾乎埋沒了一百年，直到1829年孟德爾頌演出巴哈的馬太受難曲，世人才驚於他藝術成就，1850年，他旳全部作品開始由巴哈音樂學會負責整理出版，前後費時五十年，版本修正之，共編成六十巨冊．至此世人方知道這位萊比朆樂人的不朽與偉大。作品以賦格最能表現他風格與個性。 ----摘錄自《簡明西洋音樂史》／陳啟成著--全音韓德爾 Grorge Frideric Hadel, 1685-1759 ) 德人歸化英國，他的歌劇受英人的歡迎，音樂又能發揮英人的特性。作品數豐富，最主要的作品是歌劇，但以神劇最為傑出，彌賽亞為其代表；樂器作品，以《水上音樂》《皇家燈火》為代表．神劇比歌劇重視合唱，彌賽亞於1741年完成 ----摘錄自《簡明西洋音樂史》／陳啟成著--全音樂譜出版社 |
