Description:
At the age of 30, the Catalan composer Isaac Albéniz was causing a sensation in London with his piano recitals. During this time, he composed the six album leaves entitled España. He premiered the cycle himself in London, taking the audience on a musical journey through the Spanish countryside. The cycle features exotic dance rhythms and melodic folk tunes, most notably the world-famous Tango, which has since been popularized through countless arrangements.

- Authentic Urtext: Based on original sources to provide the most accurate representation of Albéniz’s intentions.
- Spanish Flair: A vibrant collection of six pieces that capture the essence of Spanish nationalism.
- Professional Fingerings: Includes Rolf Koenen’s expertly crafted fingerings to assist with the technical nuances of Spanish keyboard writing.
- Scholarly Preface: Features an informative introduction to the work’s genesis in London.
Performance Tips/Difficulty:
The collection ranges from Difficulty 3 (easy) to 4 (medium), making it accessible for intermediate pianists. The Tango (op. 165,2) is a highlight and is recommended for ABRSM Piano Grade 6.
