During her doctoral studies, she distinguished herself not only as a pianist but also as a promising musical scholar. Her scholarly work culminated in a fine dissertation on the music of Richard Danielpour, a contemporary American composer. In her dissertation, and in all of her work, she demonstrated musical insight and a clear, idiomatic command of the English language. Now she has written an appealing introduction to basic musical concepts in which she shows again that she thinks deeply and writes clearly in English about music.
